About me
John Breslin is a research subcluster leader and adjunct lecturer at the Semantic Web Cluster, Digital Enterprise Research Institute, National University of Ireland, Galway. He is the author of a number of research publications into the areas of social networks and semantically-enabled online communities (see SIOC). In September 2004, he was co-organiser of the 1st Workshop on Friend Of A Friend, Social Networks and the (Semantic) Web (FOAF Galway).
John is co-founder of Ireland's largest discussion community boards.ie, where he is known as Cloud. He won a Net Visionary award for this site in 2005. He has also built bulletin board sites for other countries such as Japan (boards.jp), the US (boards.us) and New Zealand (boards.co.nz). In 2005, he set up blog aggregators for both Ireland and New Zealand.
As regards wikis, John presented a paper entitled WikiOnt: An Ontology for Describing and Exchanging Wiki Articles at Wikimania 2005. He also set up the site Wiki Ireland (a knowledge store for Irish heritage and culture) in that same year.
